Artist Statement
“Lyman Whitaker’s stainless steel wind sculptures are a captivating addition to the Rise Festival, complementing the lanterns’ themes of wonder and transformation. These kinetic artworks draw their shapes from nature and respond to the currents of the wind.
Fluid movements, seemingly magical, allow the viewer to interact and get lost in the mesmerizing motion offering a meditative experience. Rising from the ground, they symbolize light emerging from darkness, inviting viewers to pause, reflect and engage with the present moment. The sculptures reflect the natural world and uplift the spirit. The interplay of light and motion creates an enchanting effect, fostering an atmosphere of peace and tranquility.”
